09.45 Tanya Cable – WAVENEY WORK PLACEMENT SCHEME FOR YOUNG PEOPLE

Small and Medium businesses (SMEs) play an extrememly valuable part of Waveney's economy and can offer a unique learning experience to young people who have never been in the workplace before. The project aims to target 16-18 year olds who want to go into the workplace, but fall outside of mainstream work placement allocations and apprentice schemes. The project will offer SMEs the chance to take a work placement for an agreed period of time for a set amount of hours a week, potentially with a wage subsidy (subject to a successful funding bid) or offer taster days within their company.
